3 Best Double Edge Safety Razor Gifts for This Holiday (Christmas) Season | Best Men’s Gifts

What are the top best 3 safety razor gifts for men this Christmas or holiday season? Today, I will talk about the three best DE Razors you can give as a gift and won’t break the bank.

My recommendations are based on my personal experiences and these are not any affiliates or paid suggestions to make any sort of commission. You can rest assured that my reviews are unbiased and honest.

Muhle R89 Double Edge Safety Razor

The Muhle R89 is a closed-comb, German-made safety razor to give the best shave experience for both newbies and pros. Quality is what you will notice right away when you hold this razor. It features chrome-plated brass with a knurling handle that provides non-slip grip.

The price range is $50 CAD to $100 CAD. I noticed the Muhle costs less on other online retailers than Amazon, so check first before buying.

Edwin Jagger R86/R89 Double Edge Safety Razor

You will see the similarities with the Muhle R89 right away. This is not an accident. Edwin Jagger is made in England and they have a joint venture with Muhle, so some of their razor heads are identical.

This is another quality product and will provide a very similar shaving experience to the Muhle R89. The difference between the Edwin Jagger R86 and the R89 is the R89 has a rubberized handle and the R89 has a chrome handle.

Price range is $50 CAD to $60 and usually Amazon sells it at competitive prices.

Merkur 34C Double Edge Safety Razor

This is one of the most popular razors of all time and another quality razor made in Germany. Unlike the 2 razors above which are 3 pieces, the Merkur 34C is a two-piece razor.

The price range is $50 CAD to $60 and usually Amazon sells it at competitive prices.

I was very brief in this article. However, I have a video where you will visualize everything I wrote for better understanding. Link is Here:

DE Shaving Accessory – Shaving Bowl (Vacuum Insulated)

Best Shaving Soap Bowl for Your Wet Shaving

Recently, I switched to a double edge safety razor from a disposable razor. Unlike a disposable razor, shaving with a safety razor required patience and lots of lather. Putting on shave foam from a tin can doesn’t work that well, as the lather is not thick.

I tried putting shave cream on my bristles but looked like a shaving bowl could make creating the foamy lather process much easier. So, I started looking for shave bowls online.

There are so many options at many different price ranges that I was genuinely surprised. After going through probably a hundred of them on Amazon, I decided on a stainless steel one that was vacuum insulated for heat retention.

However, I couldn’t make the lather heavy thick like I had seen on some videos on YouTube. This could have been due to my brush not being good enough, my new skills not being good enough to make a thick lather, or my stainless-steel bowl may not have been a good one.

I have some nice-looking shave bowls made of wood and I’ve been thinking of trying one of them. Because I review all these products on YouTube, buying more than one is not a waste for me.

To expedite publishing my DE shaving experience, I have bought 7 or 8 different types of razors and I’m reviewing them one by one. There are lots of people looking for safety razor shaving, and this is a new audience segment for me to target.

As I learn more and gain experience with safety razor shaving, I will provide more tips and review videos for viewers across the globe joining the safety razor club.

How to Shave with a Safety Razor | First Time Shave with a DE Blade

Why I Am Switching to a DE Razor | My First-Time Experience Shaving with a Double Edge Razor

I thought the DE razor a thing of the past – and I was so wrong. I did a Proraso Saving Cream review on my channel a few days and one viewer suggested trying a DE Merkur 34C. This got me interested in trying safety razors and a lot has happened since then.

I researched numerous articles, watched hundreds of videos, and I was convinced that it is time to switch back to the way Grandpa used to shave.

Ridiculously overpriced disposable razors are a waste – both for the earth and for the wallet. Big razor companies try hard to make the old-style safety razors dangerous, so consumers are afraid to try them and keep buying from the big companies.

What I found out is that there is a huge community for safety razors and there are countless manufacturers still making these double-edge blades and razors. It even looks like the numbers of people switching to safely razors are growing bigger and stronger.

My first safety razor shaving experience was a lot better than I was expecting. I was expecting lots of nicks and cuts, but nothing like that happened. I even enjoyed trying DE razor shaving as it was something new and challenging.

You cannot rush into shaving with a safety razor. You need to take your time and enjoy the moment – and I find it invigorating.

I am documenting my safety razor shaving experience on my YouTube channel. I am also reviewing lots of related products you will require to make your shaving experience smooth and exciting.

Proraso Shaving Cream for Men Review | Men's Best Shave Cream

Is Proraso Men’s Shaving Cream Any Good?

I had seen Proraso Shaving Cream on drug store shelves for a while, but didn't feel like buying it for full price. But when I saw it last week for just $6.00 at my local Shoppers Drug Mart, I grabbed it and gave it a try.

Proraso has different versions – the one I picked up was Proraso Green Shaving Cream with Eucalyptus and Menthol. Its blue and white packaging looks classic, distinctive and catches the eye right away.

The moment I opened Proraso Shaving Cream’s cap, the smell of Eucalyptus hit me. Also, it has the classic barbershop smell that reminded me of the old days going to the barber.

I used a shaving brush to lather my face. The Proraso shaving cream felt creamy, but I didn’t get the heavy, rich lather I was expecting. Also, I felt like the lather didn’t stay put too long and I had to rush to finish shaving.

My overall experience was satisfying, but nothing so great that I have to keep using it in the future. Especially considering that Proraso Shaving Cream costs double or triple the cost of other shaving cream, unless you are buying it on sale.

Proraso Shaving Cream is priced at $10-$12 (if not on sale) and I think it can’t beat Nivea Shaving Cream, which only costs $3 - $4. I am willing to try other versions of Proraso Shaving Cream, but only when I can get them on sale.

I have made a Proraso Shaving Cream Review video, available on YouTube, which can be accessed here:
