How to Motivate Yourself

Simple Ways To Motivate

We have all been there, sitting around trying to get motivated. Being motivated is not always easy but when you are involved with personal development it is essential. Motivation stems from not being lazy, but when you work a full-time job, and having a family to care for, motivating yourself can be very difficult. However, it is not impossible and there are several things you can do.

1. Always remind yourself of why you are trying to motivate yourself. Remember that you are doing this because you want to do something better for yourself. When you wonder why you should get up off the couch and go for a run, remember that you are trying to improve who you are and you will find that the motivation comes.

2. Start small with what you are doing and build at is as you continue to grow. The more you do something, the more motivated you will be to do it and that feeling will grow as time goes on.

3. Have a set list of goals in mind. It is hard to stay motivated when you don’t know where you are going with something. Hence, by knowing the next step and the end goal, you will be more motivated to keep on the path.

4. Determine what it is that keeps you from actually being motivated. If you want to run five miles a day to lose weight but can’t seem to get motivated, discover why. If it is because you live in a bad neighbourhood, then go to the gym. If you are feeling as though you can’t write that book you want to write, discover why and then fix the problem.

5. Get the things you need to stay motivated. If you are trying to learn a new language on the computer but the computer is too slow, then you should get a faster computer. If you want to read more books but your library is too small, then you should find ways to get more books elsewhere.

6. Don’t sweat the small stuff. c that will drive us to not do something. Yes, things may be difficult, and there will be roadblocks, but don’t sweat the small stuff. Just keep your eye on the prize.

7. Develop a system of statements that will keep you focused. If you are trying to lose weight, then you can keep saying to yourself ’20 more pounds’. When you lose ten pounds, you can keep saying ’10 more pounds’ and so on until you have been able to reach your goal.

8. Once you have a taste of success, you will want to keep building on that success and that will be what motivates you. If you get a story published and you learn a new language, build on that and remember how you felt reaching your accomplishment. That will continue to motivate you into the future as each new accomplishment adds to your motivation.

How to Strengthen Your Willpower

Strengthen Your Willpower

Willpower is what keeps you disciplined. It is that voice in your head that tells you not to have that big dessert and instead to go for a walk. It is what tells you to get moving towards your goals and to stay away from things that may deter from bettering yourself. If you are going to venture on the road towards personal development, then you need to consider strengthening your willpower. No different than working your muscles, when you keep your willpower strong, it stays strong and the stronger your willpower is, the better off you will be to reach your personal development goals.

1. When your mind tells you that you don’t need to do something, do the exact opposite. Your mind is acting like a child so just use reverse psychology and do what you know is right for you.

2. Look at when your willpower is the strongest and then focus on using your willpower during that time of day. If you find your willpower is stronger in the morning, then focus on your goals during that time of day. Otherwise it could be an exercise in futility if you try to focus on your willpower at night.

3. Willpower has a lot to do with patience and delayed gratification. Instead of getting what you want now, you wait and hope that the outcome later is better. Well, you can strengthen your willpower by making yourself wait. If you bought yourself a video game, you will want to play it right away. Instead, put it next to the television where you can see it and do not play it for five hours. Then, once that time has passed you can play it. You can do the same with a piece of cake and a 15 minute egg timer.

4. One of the most important things you can do when you are building up your willpower is to step out of your comfort zone. Your comfort zone is where you want to stay because you like it, but to push yourself, you need to step out of your comfort zone. If you are shy, start talking to random people. If you are selfish, start lending a hand at charities. You will be surprised by how much this can help you when you are trying to build your willpower.

5. Remember the carrot and stick approach. Think about the goal you have in mind and how great it will be to reach that goal. Use the goal to fuel your willpower to stay on track and before you know it you will have reached your goal and strengthened your willpower at the same time.

Willpower is very important when you are trying to better yourself, and that is why you need to keep it strong by constantly working with it. If you do not work with it, you will not have strong willpower and you will not reach your goals. Do not underestimate the power of willpower in your quest for personal development.

How To Self-Manage Yourself

The Concept of Self-Management

Can you manage yourself? When you talk to yourself, do you listen? These may seem like odd questions but they have some very important answers to them. It all comes down to self-management, which involves being able to manage and control who you are. If you are trying to stay away from fast food to lose weight, but find yourself constantly going to a fast food restaurant, then you are not managing yourself or practicing self-management. Self-management turns you into your own manager. You tell yourself what to do and you do that.

So, what does self-management do for you in your life and what does it involve? Well, put simply self-management will turn you into a doer, rather than a sayer, and involves setting goals for yourself and sticking to those goals. You need to have discipline and will power to self manage and reach your goals, but if you follow these tips, you can do just that.

1. Decide what goals you want to have for your life. They can be anything from losing weight to starting a business, but make sure your goals are something you can achieve.

2. Be specific with your goals. Instead of saying you want to make money with a small business in the first three years, decide how much money you want to make. Being self-managed means being specific to what you want. Managers are specific to employees, and you should be to yourself.

3. Put a chart up somewhere so you can see your progress to your goals. This will both motivate and keep you on track. When you see that you are losing weight, you will be motivated to lose more. If you are not losing weight because you are not exercising, looking at that chart will get you back towards your goals.

4. When an employee does something right, they get rewarded by the manager. The same should happen to you when you have success; reward yourself. If you lose 10 pounds, go to a movie. If your business reaches a goal you set, treat yourself to something. It is up to you but make sure your reward is not counter-productive to your goal.

5. You should place post-it notes around your house with your goals written on them. This will not only keep you constantly reminded about your goals, but it will help you stay on track and motivated. You will see those goals and feel guilty for not reaching or trying for them. As a result, you will get back on the track to reaching your goals and that will make you feel better. Then when you reach a goal, you can remove the post-it note, which in itself will create a great feeling of accomplishment.

When you are trying to better yourself you need to become a manager for yourself. You need to become a person who can order you what to do. You are the manager and the employee, so make sure you stay on track with your goals to bettering yourself.

Why Reaching Goals Together Is Important?

A Shoulder To Lean on In Personal Development

When you are trying to better yourself, one of the worst things you can do for yourself is to try and do it alone. It can be very difficult to do anything by yourself, whether it is losing weight, learning a language, or trying to quit smoking. Having someone with you can make it much easier to fulfill your goals not only because you will have support, but because you will have someone to push you as well.

When you are accountable to no one, it can be easy to not do what you want with reaching your goals. If you are trying to lose weight and have to exercise, it can be easy to choose not to exercise if no one will be watching you and ensuring you do. As a result, you end up just not doing it, and that leads you to failing in your goals. However, when you are accountable, you have someone paying attention and they will call you on it if you do not accomplish the goals you set out.

If you don’t go exercise, they will ask why aren’t you exercising. If you start smoking, they will ask you why you started. Eventually, you will reach your goals to show the other person that you can indeed do it.

However, it is not only about keeping you honest. When you are involved in personal development, it can be had to feel as though you are making progress. You may become depressed and if there is no one you can talk to, you may end up failing in your quest of personal development. Now, if you have someone with you, they can talk with you and work with you to ensure that you do feel motivated and as though you are making progress.

When someone is there telling you that you can do it, that you are going to reach your goals, well it is like having a personal trainer for your confidence. Just like a regular personal trainer who helps you tone your muscles and get fit, a confidence personal trainer keeps your self-esteem high, and keeps you wanting to strive towards your goals. They are very valuable to have, and they can help you achieve everything that you want.

It is not always easy to reach our goals and often our biggest enemy is ourselves. We will get down on ourselves, get depressed and think we just are not going to make it. As a result, you may feel as though there is no chance of ever having success. When you have someone who is a shoulder you can lean on, you have someone who will keep you going and give you that little push that gets you towards the end zone. They are also the ones who keep you going when you are feeling lazy because they feel a sense of accomplishment when they help you reach your accomplishments.

Who is your confidence personal trainer?

How To Start A Personal Development Plan

Learn To Accept Change

It may not be very easy to exactly pin point where personal development would begin or end. But we could comfortably say that anything that involves an aspect that could lead to your own individual transformation can get included in personal development. This all revolves around a resolution that one makes to try and become a better person than they were yesterday. When we get to look inwards, we try and improve the person that we discover, as opposed to when we try and compete with another individual. Personal development is all about you against any form of mediocrity you find in you and would like to see an improvement.

Those who have undergone any form of personal development training realize the importance of beginning by writing down all that you are and what you intend to do about it. It does not have to be anything complex. The simpler it is the easier it becomes to relate with it and accomplish. When you put things down in pen and paper it helps your mind to actually clarify them to make them realties. And since this kind of plan is personal, it should not appear as if it is cast in concrete, so there should be freedom and flexibility as and when circumstances allow.

The good news about a successful self development plan is that you can actually begin today or as soon as you finish reading this article, and it really may not matter how fast or how far you go. You can take your baby steps by building on what you learn on the first day you decide to do something about yourself. You need to learn how to make your agenda into a goal that can be broken down into small achievable steps. The advantage of doing this is that when you achieve one small feat, you have the incentive and motivation to move on to another one with the knowledge that you can actually make because you will have results on your side.

As a good student in the self development school you can save yourself a lot of valuable time and energy learning from the examples and experiences of other people. If people have made mistakes from particular choices you can get to avoid such because experience may never be the best of teacher. Someone said if you let experience be your only teacher, time will teach you the bitterly cold truth, but will take your youth in exchange. One of the easiest ways to learn from other people is by reading self development books and picking all the golden nuggets you find in there to make them your own.

If there is one thing that you must realize and take real note of, is that the only consistent thing on earth is change. Learn to accept the fact that change is inevitable and you will be best placed to survive if you can anticipate change and be able to adapt to it as soon as you realize it is there to stay. People all through history have had to change their belief systems and their ideas about many things and systems. You can imagine that if it were not for change, all the development you see today would simply be in the minds of people.
