Sheraton Full Moon Maldives Arrival & First Impressions

What to Expect On Your First Day At Sheraton Maldives Resort

We arrived at Velana International Airport from Maafushi Local Island. The Sheraton Full Moon Maldives team operates from Counter C16 inside the terminal. A gentleman greeted us, scanned our passports, collected our luggage, and directed us to wait at the nearby Coffee Club until the remaining guests from other flights arrived.

Once the group was complete, we were escorted to the boat departure point. All resort boats leave from the same exit area, but Sheraton’s vessel stood out immediately. We noticed that the boat looked much higher end and luxurious than those we used for local islands. The short 15‑minute ride offered calm seas and a comfortable cabin with lemon‑scented towels.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink served in bamboo-style cups before learning that our beach villa was not yet ready. We later learned we had been upgraded to an overwater bungalow with a plunge pool for our 2nd night stay. Our first night was in a regular overwater bungalow.

A guided orientation followed, covering the resort’s five restaurants, main pool, water sports center, kids club, and garden areas. Bicycle rentals are available, though priced significantly higher than on local islands. The island itself is large, with distinct zones for garden villas, beach villas, and the aforementioned overwater bungalows.

The staff arranged temporary access to the resort’s “Relax Room,” a spacious open‑concept lounge with large washrooms, daybeds, and quiet seating. It served as a comfortable waiting area while our overwater bungalow was being prepared.

Once our room was ready, we were taken to our Villa, located over clear, shallow water with direct lagoon access. After settling in and finishing our room tour videos, we headed to the Mediterranean restaurant for lunch.

The restaurant offered oceanfront seating with amazing uninterrupted lagoon views, live DJ music, and a structured menu where guests on meal packages select one item per section. Our dishes included seafood pizza, Greek salad, prawn linguine, and a fresh fruit platter.

This first day provided a complete look at Sheraton Full Moon’s arrival experience—organized, welcoming, and designed to ease guests into island life.
